A Night at Ratchadamnoen

Hey guys,
I already posted a few pics of my trip to Bangkok in the street photography threads but this time I would like to post a series taken during a night at the Ratchadamnoen Stadium, one of the place in Bangkok where the muay thai competitions happen.

The conditions were a bit difficult for shooting, the light was low and the boxers were always moving. I brought the RX100 and the Ricoh GR to the event, but the battery of the Sony died after a few videos and I forgot my spare one. So I had to rely on the Ricoh GR and it's 28mm equivalent lens. Not ideal since I was not on the ring to shoot, but fortunately the GR has 2 integrated crop modes : a 35mm and a 47mm equivalent mode which respectively have a resolution of 10 and 6 MPx. You can switch from one to another in one button press so it was easy to change the FOV when the boxers were moving closer or farther.

The AF was a bit hit or miss under these conditions so I switched to MF and Snap Focus for better results.

It was the first time I attended a thai boxing event and I must say it's far more violent than watching it on TV! :)
