Sony Telephoto options for Sony A6000

The right approach of choosing a system is to evaluate these needs before, not after...

If were choosing a MFT body, you would have the a 600mm (equivalent) lens with stabilization. Is the poor man birding solution, can't get under $1000 such reach for any other ILC system.

Right! I AM evaluating the options before I choose a camera body. As to the poor man's birding solution, I already have the FZ200, and it seems to be the best solution beyond that is the Nikon 1 V3 with the 70-300CX. It's not cheap, but it's a lot less expensive and more portable than any of the APS solutions and has more reach than the MFT solutions.

Cheers, Jock

I have a NEX 6 and after quite a bit of analysis over the last few months around this very question, I have opted for ... m43 again. Picking up an EP3 initially with a 40-150 (the NEX 55-210 is terribly weak), and will likely re-buy a 100-300 down the road.

For a birding cam, I don't believe the A6000 is a good choice. There just isn't a good choice of long tele's in E or Alpha mount. There's some good tele's in Alpha mount but they're more expensive, harder to find, etc.
