Sony Pondering A6000 (vs DP Merrill)

I'm really getting tempted by the A6000 with a couple of small primes, for wide angle either the Sigma 19mm f2.8 Art or the Sony 20mm f2.8, and for light tele either the Sigma 60mm Art or the Sony 50mm f1.8 OSS.

Does anyone here have both a A6000 and a Sigma Merrill? I can't see myself carrying around multiple cameras with the same focal lengths, and I can certainly see where the A6000 would clearly beat the Merrills, but how much would I be giving up when it comes to low ISO resolution/details with a A6000 with primes against the Merrills?

I'm interested in this idea as well, except I was thinking an A7 and using some of the APS lenses for crop mode but having the benefit of FF when the lens weight is less an issue.

An A6000 or A7 with two lenses is likely close to the same size and weight as two Merrills.

The Merrill's will beat both the a7 and a6000 in terms of fine detail, micro contrast and tonal quality. Af speed, high iso, and feature loaded, and of course a evf..the Sony cameras will be better. I have the nex5n and a7 as well as the Merrill cameras.

The AF of the A6000 is top, but is not fully supported with the Sigma lenses (phase AF). The 19mm and 30mm don't achieve the quality of the Merrills and the 19mm is the weakest of the three Sigma lenses.

The art series are a bit better. I have both the older DN mount 30 on the nex5n and the newer art in 30 and 60 for m43. The dp2m which uses a 30f2.8 blows the other 30s away including the new 30f1.4 art for my sigma sd1m. The lenses for the dp series have always been designed to match the foveon sensor. Of the three dp Merrill cameras, the 19 on the dp1m is probably the weakest of the bunch...sigma has stated that they redesigned the dp1q lens formula, but the dp2 and 3 remains the same.

My reason for wanting an A7 is I have some plans which involve 21mm and wider.
I'll take the IQ hit. I'm sure it won't be all that bad.

I can get to 21mm with my Ricoh GR but I am looking for an excuse to dabble with FF.
Sometimes you just have to experience these things.

I forgot to mention..

There are only a couple of people I am aware of that use the Merrill as their one and only camera system. It is a camera capable of medium format quality results and a camera that will give a Nikon d800 or Leica monochrom a run for the money, but it is not for everyone.

I use my Merrill cameras for
- detail work (still life type stuff)
- macros
- monochrome
- landscapes

I have other cameras that I use for other situations. The Merrill is definitely not what I would use for action or nature (animals/birds), candids/street (unless u ok w/ zone/scale and b&w since u are going to need high iso) or high iso work (unless b&w) and u are ok w/ limited dp lens range or carrying the heavier sd1m dslr around.

Yeah.. I can understand as a gear head about that. For my type of shooting needs, apsc and m43 is actually more than enough. I finally broke down and bought an a7 because I found one at a price I could live w/ and I wanted to c how well my rf lenses would behave on it.. The Nex system has always been my default generic digital back for all my legacy lenses I have around and the a7 just carries on that tradition.

Btw I also have the Ricoh wide angle adaption for my GR, but I find that the results are better on my dp1m. While it is does cause a bit of degradation from the dp1m, it is still better.
