Nikon Nikon J4

Regular
The Nikon J4 will be sold in the US. $649 for the kit with the 10-30 lens.
Suppose to be available by the end of the month.
I'm saving for it. I'm buying one.
With the lack of availability of the V3 I bet the J4s that they bring in sell out fast.

I've decided no more cameras without either a) viewfinder or b) tilting/variangle screen.

I'll go one step further. I won't buy another camera unless it has BOTH a viewfinder and tilting/variable screen. Since acquiring my Lumix G6, I can't believe how often I use the articulated screen, to easily capture an image from an unusual angle or perspective. The vast majority of my shooting is still done through the viewfinder, however, and the G6 has a very good one.

I've just given a glance to the RX100Mk3... and thats it, for me, I think.

Don't think I'll be going there. I've decided no more cameras without either a) viewfinder or b) tilting/variangle screen.
Hi! I'm not a pro photographer but I am past the beginner stages. I use a Canon DSLR most of the time but I want a compact system camera because it's easier to travel with it. I'm looking for over 10 megapixels, interchangeable lens, wifi capabilities (preferably not having to buy an additional adapter) affordable (500 but hopefully 200-300 dollars) and if possible, has a viewfinder, not just a LCD monitor. And SDHC card compatible. I was looking into the Nikon 1 Series, but they are really expensive compared to some other cameras, and don't have as many features. Well known brands are a plus for me too :) Canon Sony Nikon (if it's worth the price) etc.
Thank you for the help! And please don't say just use a DSLR, I'm looking for a compact system camera.

ALEXCA, you can but a brand new Nikon 1 V2 kit from Henry's in Canada for $489., but you would need the WiFi adapter which you can get for as low as $30.
If I had the cash right now I'd probably grab one before they are sold out.
You wouldnt have a Nikon warranty but you would have a warranty thru Henry's.

I really want the V3, but its out of my price range right now. Actually so is the J4.
Whatever I buy I will need to save up for.
I can frame pretty easily using my J1 with grid view on, but an EVF is sure nice on bright sunny days. I like tilting screens also.
Actually my J1 is my first cam without EVF or OVF.

ALEXCA, take a look at the Olympus OM-D E-M10. I realize it's more expensive than what you'd like to pay, but it's a lot of camera for the money, with all the features you want....and then some. With kit lens, it costs $150 more than the J4, is available now, and is part of the Panasonic/Olympus micro 4/3 system.....probably the best and most complete compact system currently available.

The E-M10 has a larger sensor(micro 4/3) than the Nikon 1 series, built in evf, tilting touch screen, built in wi-fi, twin control dials, focus peaking, pop-up flash w/wireless flash control ability, and in-camera image stabilization. In addition, and perhaps most important, a wide variety of lenses, in all price ranges, are available. These include a large array of quality primes; and zooms, from typical amateur, to pro quality.

As stated earlier in this thread, I have the mini DSLR like G6, which I like a lot. It is also part of the micro 4/3 system. B&H had it last year for $498 with the new kit lens from Panasonic. For that price, I couldn't resist. If the E-M10 was available at the time, however, I might have bought it instead.

Good luck with your search!

Actually my J1 is my first cam without EVF or OVF.

I've had heaps. Some are OK in bright sunshine but most are not. I have to rely on beeps and green squares (or whatever on whichever camera) to know that I have focus on *something*. I havent ever used a tilty screen on a sunny day. I bought the Olympus VF2 because the gloss on the XZ-1 LCD screen was too great in bright light. And my J1 is now packed away in its box, I'm only using the V1.
