Pentax Pentax Q lenses are not serviceable?

I was reading on another Pentax Q forum about a guy in Germany with a damaged 01 lens.
He took it to to a service provider, they got in touch with Pentax, and were told Pentax Q lenses are not serviceable.
Another member checked the US site and these lenses aren't listed as ones they can repair.
I don't own a Q but I am interested in them.
Has anyone heard about this before.?

it might just be that they are so small and difficult to work on that they are cheaper to replace than to service.

I haven't heard of that either. Perhaps the cheaper ones are assembled in a way that makes it impossible to open without breaking them, I.e., glue?

FWIW, my Q's have been suction cupped to the side of a moving car, clamped to the handlebars of a motorcycle, and stuck on the end of a extended monopod strapped to my back and then ridden on a moving motorcycle with no ill effects. As ecologically unfriendly a non-repairable lens is, I would discount the Q because of that fact. YMMV.

Point taken :p

If I find out any more I will post it.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a completely new Pentax Q system anyway.
I kinda expect them to enter the 1" sensor market.

Nikon is trying to capture the high end 1" market with the V3.
The J4 might be very interesting with touchscreen.
If they keep the same sensor as the J3 and give it exspeed 4a and built-in WiFi.
Might be a good seller depending on price point.
Samsung NX mini is going for the lower end price point.
With the features it might be a big seller.
If it is I think you will see a new Pentax Q with 1" sensor.
Ofcourse this is only my opinion, for what its worth.

I guess the obvious question is, what do the lenses cost? If it's no more than a couple hundred bucks, then they wouldn't be economical to service anyways. And when I look at the prices for these lenses, most of them seem to sell for below $200.

1" would be cool, but Ricoh and Pentax have all the pieces for a great APS-C compact system. A Ricoh GR-like interface, 28 and 50mm lenses (based on GR/GXR), maybe a reworked 77/1.8 and a dash of IBIS/SR sounds good to me!

I think the Nikon 1 aw1 is actually one of the more interesting things that has come out compared to what some of others have announced.

Makes sense! The lenses in this system are all simple and low cost so making them in a way that can't be repaired is logical. It is a kind of bummer but that is the way things are these days. As others have said I would image that many repairs would cost more than the lens is worth. I have seen this with lenses from larger systems. A friend had a Nikkor that had a bused focus motor and it could be repaired but the cost of repair was higher than the lens was worth. He just bought a good used one instead.

Really? It would have to be a COMPLETELY new system as I doubt the current lenses will fully cover a 1 inch sensor. They did enlarge the sensor a tiny bit on the Q7 and it is probably as big as they can go without major loss of edge performance. I think Pentax would be better served to build a better APS mirrorless system. The K01 was a flop but the general idea was good.

Update. Now I'm getting really confused.
The guy with the broken 06 lens in the USA was told by Pentax to send it in for a repair estimate.
