discuss amongst ourselves!

now I'm craving some Kentucky Fried Chicken. Stuck at work for another 2 hours and I'm HUNGRY! I'll watch bits and pieces because it's something different. But I just think college basketball has lost a lot by all the good players going pro after a year. It waters down the talent pool in the colleges and it also has ruined the Pros by teams taking gambles on unproven young athletes that seem to have some raw talent, but may never make the transition to be a great NBA player.

Less than 2 weeks until Opening Day :cloud-9-039:

ummm…have I popped up on Mars or in the middle of a stock market report? I have zero idea what anyone here is saying….:help:…it's about nappy wipes isn't it?

yup, right on point. however that is how duke lost to a 13. the mercer bears had a bunch o' seniors, and handed it to the duke freshmen.

I think the top echelon teams. like Duke, will have to come up with a strategy to have a mix of All-American prospects who might be one-and-dones and good role players who will stick around for four years. You can win with freshmen (see Kentucky a few years back), but I don't think that is optimum.

I don't like was has happened to the college game either, but it's hard to argue with the entertainment value from yesterday's slate of games.

Come on now, you play roundball down under. You've got your Andrews: Gaze and Bogut. They played in the NCAA tournament in their day.

And if you don't like basketball you've got the the major league baseball season opener in Sydney just seven hours from now.

oooooh is this sport thing…?
…ummm...I mean - hmmmm…**deepens voice by two octaves**…oh yeah of course, hmmm,
...be honest the only round-ball I know is the World Game being played in Brazil shortly.

Seriously fellas, it's a completely different language you're talking here. Though I assume folks who don't know photography think the same when they read our posts.

Go team!

P.S., I saw news footage of some baseball team coming into Australia recently and there was a high degree of disappointment at the lack-lustre reception. Some player who gets paid like $200million dollars just walked through with the slightest recognition….also I saw a snippet of some game on the sports bit of the news while I stirred the vegetables last night and the crowd was super-tiny. Looks like we Aussies prefer our small-ball games with red balls with a seam and hit with a bat with edges.

Major League Baseball should really focus on the game itself and not trying to spread the BRAND into something global. It's bit like putting lipstick on a pig and trying to teach her to sing. The pig will never be able to sing, and she'll only end up getting irritated.

Quite right too. After all, what's the point of baseball in Australia if you can't stuff the poms?
ha ha too right! Here's some nostalgia from 30 years ago or so. Funny the facial and other hair styles aint changed a bit…..some nice image contained within too...

Oh my, I remember Andrew Gaze dropping long range bombs back in the 80s, bringing Seton Hall to the brink of a National Championship. Damn Hoosiers had one more dose of magic than the Pirates.

It's a great spectacle, but I don't watch much anymore. Kind of,lost interest when they went from being student-athletes to athlete-students. The colleges, NCAA, or both should really pay them something since it's basically the minor leagues for the NBA.

Also can't help noticing that even with Dennis Lillee firing them down at 150K there's not a helmet in sight. Batsmen were made of sterner stuff back then.
