Hi,

as I am new here I would like to share some photos I have taken during my second journey to Australia.
Would like to hear some feedback, maybe suggestion on how to improve my images.

I started my tour in Sydney. Of course I had to take a photo of the probably most photographed two buildings of the city. I combined them like this:

But the CBD/Circular Quay itself is quite nice, too.

Next stop was Tasmania - in winter. It was really cold and a bit challenging, but it was very quiet and that was most enjoyable.
The national parks are just wonderful. Such a nice spot on earth!

Afterwards we visited the Great Ocean Road. I have been there before, so not so much photos here. ;)
But the Grampians NP was a new place to discover and it's quite a lovely spot.

It was winter, not so much sun for us, but some clouds created a dramatic atmosphere instead. ;)

Before we continued our journey to visit the next NP, we made a short stop in Melbourne. It was raining a lot, so my lens got wet during the walk, but nevertheless I like the photo:

Cairns was a stop just to relax. I love the city and I have been there before. So I just relaxed in the best hostel, the Travellers Oasis, and walked around. I nearly missed this one:

This was the first part of the trip, the second part will follow later. :)

Kind regards,
Matt

Well, Matt - I don't know how you found your way here to Serious Compacts but welcome aboard! And thank you so much for sharing these gorgeous photographs right off. Wish I'd been there to see these sights myself!

P.S. Like Sue, I love the wombat as well!:D

Thank you for the feedback. :)

We like it here :)
I liked it, too. Definitely want to come back someday.

Well... I found it while searching for Samsung NX information for my blog. ;) Thanks for the warm welcome.

Like Sue, I love the wombat as well!:D
Everybody wanted me to send them one of those cute animals :D

Enough ! you are showing everybody up :)
Haha, thanks. I am sorry, but I will post the second part anyway.

Come on then ! Where is it ? I'm waiting .:)

Thank you for the ongoing positive feedback. I'll post the second part later, probably on Sunday or Monday.

Matt or someone else - what is the name of that reptile? Is it a Caiman? I didn't even see him the first time I looked!
Yeah, he can hide very well. I actually don't know what exactly the name is, sorry. But I would be interested, too.

Lovely shots, and nice to see the harbour / sea shots not festooned with the usual overdone long exposures (pet hate of mine :)) and the waterfalls are just about right. Yes and I'm liking the wombat too - he's cool.

Welcome to SC, Matt (y)

Thanks again for all the feedback! As promised here is part two:

After Cairns I flew to Darwin to visit the Kakadu NP. It's a really impressive park with many different types of landscape. It can be either green...

There are places where it is safe to swim, but be sure not to swim in his area:

Afterwards I headed to the West Coast. Well, I had 14 days (not enough at all) and I drove like hell up and down the coast.
Starting in Perth I shot the skyline from Kings park, like almost every tourist.

Then I went down the coast and didn't had luck with the weather. It was raining a lot, but sometimes there were some sunshine, too...

So you remember the first part of this photo set? I already met Mr. Wombat, Mr. Kangaroo and Mr. (I finally know it, thanks!) Tree Goanna. Who's missing?

This was actually taken on a farm where they heal animals that were hurt during accidents with cars. Good work there!

Arriving in the northern part it looked more and more like the outback. Sand got red and that's why we called the tour Red Earth Safari:

Due to heavy rainfalls this is already the end of our tour. We saw many more things, but as you may now... the NX20 is not really waterproof :(

Hope you enjoyed the photos and got a feeling for this beautiful country. If you'd like to see some more photos visit the flickr album on Australia: Australia

Kind regards,
Matt

Great images. The wombat photo is just super! The best souvenirs you could take home with you. Thanks for sharing and come back to Sydney again!

I love that spot near Luna Park, though my last attempt there may be overdone for some.
