Food photographers

All very true of course, I know when I had my Facebook account (now closed) people would often post photos of their dinner, which I found a bit odd. Having said that, I have done it myself in the past - you can't beat a nice photo of burger and chips!

I'd never thought about it in terms of intellectual property before though, it's always just been "dinner" but then I rarely eat posh food :)

Ah, remember when we used to pop into the Wimpy Bar for a "special grill" - burger patty, strange circular fried egg, strange circular frankfurter, half a tomato, chips - and snap it with our Olympus Trips?

Remember how we used to rush around to Boots, drop off our films, and pick them up a couple of days later with those little oval stickers plastered all over the prints? "Out of Focus", "Camera Shake", "Underexposed" etc?

Remember our excitement as we rushed around to our friends and handed out prints of our special grill?

No, neither do I...

Food photography is a modern abomination. Stop it at once.

It's not bad if done occasionally, for something remarkable. What is annoying is the facebook post of the bowl of Mac and Cheese for no reason.

As to the rights of the chef, you are serving it to someone. That the customer took a picture, (with positive comments), should be a reason to be happy.

interesting idea.....these chefs not wanting people to take and share photos of their creations. If I were to prepare a meal lovely enough to photograph, I'd be proud to have someone snap it and share it.

Although if the WB is off and it made my food look ghastly, I might want to file a lawsuit for damages for lost business as people on the social media are grossed out at the sight of my creation (and it's green color cast).

Pictures of someone's dinner is one of my pet hates...... endless pictures of mushy gravy.... yuk! This seems to be what happens whenever a new camera comes out. A quick search of flickr will reveal endless photos of the tester's lunch. On the other hand, beautifully lit pictures of cakes in soft focus are another thing altogether;)
