at Brean Down Fort

Nice set. I used to walk there a lot when i lived down south. I love the lighthouse at Burnham too.
Fair play for carrying all that gear around too :bravo-009:

Paul, it's dangerous to make assumptions, I certainly didn't realise that it was one of Palmerston’s Follies, a long way from those we have surrounding Plymouth. So it just shows that there's always something new to learn.

A sky to die for in that last one, and from what I can see no vapour trails. It's some time since the distinctive trail left by Concorde used to be seen every evening coming up the Bristol Channel, visible from my house at West Quantoxhead which would lie somewhere on the western horizon of that last shot.

Glad to have offered up something new Barrie.

I was brought up not too far from Heathrow, and what I remember about Concorde wasn't the contrails (it was far too low passing over us) but the extraordinary crackling roar of the RR Olympus engines. No other aircraft sounded the same, although the VC10 came closest. It was also sometimes almost deafening, despite the altitude it had gained since takeoff, about 10 miles away.

hehehe ...

I haven't contacted the roll from which #1 comes, but the frame does look rather thin (it was getting a bit late and dim, and I was shooting for the light rather than the shadows ) so no guarantees about shadow detail; However it was developed in a staining developer (catechol) so there may be more there than it appears.

In all truth, however, that one has had rather a lot of assistance from LR4  - though it does reflect "what I saw"

It is part of the remains of a latrine block, by the way, though I can't tell you whether the urinal trough (just out of frame) is original Palmerston or a WWII addition :)

I've got a few like that from my film days, much "fun" in trying to print them in the darkroom

Thank you for sparing us with your framing :) , and trust me to head for such a building :D

- plywood roof is it?
I wasn't looking, but I wouldn't have thought so. Its on an exposed promontory in the Bristol channel and I'd doubt it would have lasted 70 years? But you'd know better than I about how such materials last in those conditions
