Sony Tips and tricks?

I have been into photography for many years. But did not take it seriously till i got my Rx100. Are there any websites out there that might help out with tips and tricks with this camera. Since some of the features i am not sure how to use, i am more of a visual person so I prefer it when stuff is shown to me and reading the manual didn't help much. I am having trouble with some stuff especially when trying to shoot macro. In macro mode and setting my own aperture. It seems like the camera has hard time figuring out what to set in focus. Not sure if i need to change something in settings maybe... it always seems to want to focus on something that's in the back. Or am i too close to the subject maybe? I am also having trouble shooting pictures where the foreground is in focus and background is blurry. It has worked for me a couple of times but not sure how i did it. :(

Thank you in advance.

In general i try use fast shutter speeds when possible, for myself at least, hand-shake can be an issue. Go no higher than 1600iso if you want prints. Avoid real slow apertures f1.8 to f6 is the range i try to stay in. And set the lens ring to exposure comp.

for macro learn to use focus peaking and manual focus assist. Its fly by wire and feels slow at first, but with practice its much more precise

thanks for the tips guys. ill try it out this weekend hopefully it works. and ill look into the books didnt know there were ones made just for our camera.

is there a way to control the metering mode? such as the spot or center one? or is that not possible on our cameras? like move the little square or can u point the camera at something half way press the shutter button and than re position your camera to where you want to?
