The Online Photographer posted a link to this documentary about Vivian Maier

Apparently there is a new film about her coming out in spring 2014.

Are there other films about photographers that folks here can recommend?

Please post links if possible.

Cheers, Jock

"Pen, Brush & Camera" about HCB is worth watching. It starts (if I remember correctly) with this quote.... "I always have my camera with me, except when shaving in the morning". How lazy.....bring that camera into the bathroom in the morning....LOL.

I hate the soaring strings and other production values of the film, but well worth watching. Alfred Stieglitz: The Eloquent Eye

"The Photographer" about Edward Weston is dated in a most wonderful way. The narrator and musical cues remind me of films we were shown in grade school.

I'll add a few more, one from one of my many favorite photographers, Alfred Eisenstaedt, one for contemporary photojournalist and Nat Geo photog, James Nachtwey, and a great film about Nat Geo photographer Jim Brandenburg, "Chased by the Light" (this is a short version on You Tube; the full DVD and book are both great).

.

McCullin. A documentary about Don McCullin released last year. Trailer here:
(This is different from the McCullin documentary in an earlier post, though I think there's some overlap in the material.)

Bernd und Hilla Becher - Ein Portrait. Hugely influential on subsequent generations of German photographers. In German here:
. I saw a version with English subtitles but I haven't found it online.

Michael Kenna: Hokkaido at Michael Kenna's Hokkaido

The World According to Martin Parr:

Martin Parr - Think of England:

I tried to edit a post to include an embedded video instead of just a link, and it screwed up posts 7-10. And even with my awesome moderator powers, I can't seem to bring them back. My apologies to anyone who made one of those posts. I think one of them was even mine, but "the internets" swallowed them up.

This was quite awesome. I watched this a couple of years ago when I was stuck at home with a really really bad flu, high fever and debilitating headaches and nausea, confined to the bed/couch. I didn't eat for a week because I couldn't hold anything down.

Daido Moriyama - Near Equal. I absolutely love his work, although it inspires rather than directly influences me.

The right hand column of related videos on YouTube will keep you going for a long time. Everything from Nobuyoshi Araki to HCB.

Glad it brought back such happy memories:)
