Ultimate travel camera w/ RX100 sensor:) Not a small camera, but the zoom range is equivalent to 24-200 f/4 m43, 24-200 f5.2 apsc, 24-200 f/8 FF equivalent. More:

- Size is about same as the Sony HX300 for example:

- Lens does not collapse.
- there is an aperture ring that can be selected to be “smooth” or with “clicking steps”.
- The lens has a f/2.8 aperture through the full focal range!!!

Per Samy's price it is $1298. Also FF camera pricing is there, $1698 for A7 & $1998 w/ 28-70mm kit lens.

I actually think the RX10 is pretty cool. It doesn't make sense for me, given my other gear. One can buy a refurbished E-M5 and a refurbished 14-150 from Cameta Camera (both with one-year warranty) spend a lot less money and get a much larger sensor (but not much more size).

I'm also not sure the price of the RX10 is going to fly. Now, intellectually, I understand the price - taking an RX100 II and adding a built-in EVF and expensive, fast Zeiss zoom lens. But I'm still not sure enough people will understand and be willing to open their wallets for it.

But nonetheless, taken in its own, the RX10 is pretty cool. I'm also eager to see the Olympus Stylus 1 bridge camera with 1/1.7" sensor, 24-300mm zoom and potentially a $600-$700 price tag:

Frankly speaking, I was not thrilled by the optical quality of Olympus 14-150, and I suspect any gains in the sensor department will be offset by the difference in the lens speed.

I think of Sony RX10 as a direct replacement for Sony R1. I'm pretty sure the sensor is much better (it's smaller, but it's 8 years younger), and the lens is both faster and has more range. The EVF is probably the same Epson SVGA unit used in the OM-D E-M5. Overall — a very cool camera, especially for videographers.

The 14-150mm is not my first choice in Micro 4/3 superzooms

Superzoom Showdown

And once again — given the difference in maximum aperture and the fact that any Micro 4/3 body with an integrated EVF + Panasonic 14-140 will be at least as big and heavy as Sony RX10, I think Sony is a more attractive option, especially since it gets to 24mm EFL at the wide end. :)

If I wasn't such a snob that would be the last camera I would ever need... actually it would not be a bad companion for my RX1.
