Hey guys, didnt know there was a place for "film" in this forum, but apparently there is!.

So back in 2010 a huge earthquake struck the central-south part of Chile. The magnitude was 8,8. One of the biggest earthquake in history.
I was there, shot it and designed a little book with all proceeds to the red cross.

This book got just a little bit of buzz locally mainly, and never talked about it ever since. Till now, while working on my website a friend of mine suggested to post about this project. And so i took the time, re visited the negatives, re processed them and uploaded the story about it.

go check it out http://chrisleskovsek.com/updatesnews/2013/9/7/88-pieces

Heres a preview

Its really impressive to revisit 3 year old negatives, I was just starting to take photography more seriously, i was all over film, using compact cameras, at one point had 17 cameras! my favorites were russian Lomo LCA, Olympus TRIP35 and the Contax T2.

I think there were nice pictures in those negatives but now with all i know Ive probably shot the story way differently and i was just thinking that my keepers would have been way more than what it was. Funny enough, now that i was writing about it, picked up a lot of what i considered "out takes" when i first did this book.

Chris, these look weirdly squished on my screen, and they don't when I look at your site.
Is there something odd about the way the dropbox links work?

Uhh really? What are you using to see this images. Im just checking them on my ipad and look exactly the same as in my desktop computer, fine.

I dont know why you are not seeing them properly. Im sorry but dont know how to fix that?

I'm just using a perfectly standard laptop and Opera browser. But this is what I'm seeing:

None of the other image threads are showing this peculiar distortion, so I wondered if it's something to do with dropbox

OK I've worked out what it is.

the dropbox links specify the height/width of the image as 498x800px, and uses HTML.

This doesn't get parsed properly on some systems (which is why there's a long-standing request by many of us for posters to use BBCODE for inline images rather than HTML)

I can't show you chapter and verse as I can't seem to force vBulletin not to parse links

Very interesting Chris! It's amazing to go back and look at old photos isn't it?

There's the memories that flood back and of course for us as photographers we look at what choices we made and what we might have done differently now. It's crazy looking at what I considered my best work even a year ago and how I would process differently, shoot differently, etc. The weirdest part is realizing I'll do the same thing all over again in another year :D

I've never really experienced a natural disaster up close and personal (I suppose fortunately for me) so I can't imagine what it'd be like to wake up one morning to collapsed buildings and chaotic destruction. The closest I think I've seen was hurricane Sandy here, but it really didn't hit our area, certainly not like it did the coast an hour or so away. I'm sure it's a different thing to see it at your front door.

Thanks for the photos. That is a very big earthquake. The photos on my laptop looked normal.

Yes, indeed was a massive earthquake more than 500 people lost their lives, and still now in 2013, great part of the affected town/cities have not fully recovered.

Thanks for letting me know man!. didnt know that the html was not working properly on some systems. even though is the simplest forms of internet writing/coding, right?

I know exactly what you mean, and yes, this was a great exercise to make. I found some amazing shots (i think now) that were badly framed, or badly exposed, and sucks. yet is funny.

And in terms of the earthquake, yeah, As i was telling Serhan, hundreds of people lost their lives, and costed a couple of billions in infrastructure lost. really big thing. Luckily nothing mayor happened to my family or house.

Thanks for sharing. I don't even recall hearing about this earthquake at all.

The photos are strong. Black and white worked well for them. It would be interesting to see them in color though.
