Nikon V1 viewfinder

I had all but determined to go today to buy one thats cheap, from the same place I bought my J1, but the car would not start. Its been a bit hesitant lately, took it for a long run yesterday, thinking that the battery would charge up... nope... so I guess I am up for a new alternator and there goes the camera fund. oh well.

If you don't mine white.... $319, Maybe you can get a V1 and alternator! Good luck with the car.

Nikon V1 With Nikkor 10mm f/2.8--DigitalRev

Apart from a great little viewfinder and far superior battery life, it's the same as your J1 I think.

Thanks, Darren. Plenty of white around and they all have the 10-30 and not the 30-110. I already have the 10mm also, I really dont want to duplicate, though I could probably be happy to store a 10-30. I have WAY too much stuff. Wanna buy a K-5?

BTW it was the battery... $158... the alternator, if it had been that, would have cost something north of $700 even for a reconditioned one. New are out of my ballpark.

[edit] the other thing I forgot to say was that with cameras, I would prefer to buy local unless I can get it disgustingly cheap from OS... and then, I prefer a US purchase. I would have bought a refurb from Cameta... story elsewhere about why I did not. I am planning to make one more run to a source in Rutherford and Bennetts Green (Hardly Normals) and see if they have anything. After that... pfft.

I've no need for a 10-30, but I wouldn't mind buying a 10mm if you end up with a duplicate black one if that helps you at all !! I would love a K-5 or K-5 II if I didn't already have Nikon gear that I don't really use any more :)

Sounds like you're in Newcastle... I have to get up to the beaches and lakes there more with my cameras in Spring. I love some of the spots up there.

I've purchased a couple of cameras from Digitalrev previously. They were nice an easy to deal with.

Good to know about DR... I follow the threads on whirlpool and there have been a few disappointed people lately. Let me poke around and see what I can find... esp if you'd buy the 10... its a really nice little lens but I dont want two... or white.

[edit] Nobbys, Merewether beach, Lake Macquarie, Stockton beach or the river on the other side... all good spots. The city isnt much good for street, nearly everyone goes to malls in the burbs, inside... the streets often seem completely deserted... weird. The city fathers have been trying to bring back the heart of the city but they really havent a clue, everything they have tried has failed, and now they are going to stop the trains from getting there as well. Insane.

Whoops. Did it again. V1 twin kit (sorry Darren, no spare 10mm). Best I could do was $647 at Bennetts Green Harvey Norman... the HN at Rutherford (where I also went) had it still for $1088 and called it on sale. They originally (both stores) were selling for $1288.

So I'm counting my blessings and thinking thats IT for a while. I have to settle down again for a couple of years.

Congratulations Sue, I'm sure you'll love it. The 30-110 should also be very nices. I think I'll pick up one of those next for my V1 (Before my 10mm) ;) Digidirect in Sydney have them for $264 today only! otherwise $293.

When I was still at sixes and sevens about the V1, I had a used one in my cart at B&H, $186 US. Probably cheaper in AU once you take the shipping into account. They have the 18mm for $189, too.

I can vouch for the 18.5, it is a fantastic lens. Had mine for a few months now.
