WINNER ANNOUNCED - 17th Serious Compacts Salon Challenge: DOLCE VITA

pictogramax

All-Pro
Location
Zemun, Serbia
A glass of fine vine, a luxury dinner or just a cappuccino at old city square; a quiet stroll or laid back sunbathing on the beach, maybe reading a book with a cup of tea? Or anything other that embodies the meaning of DOLCE VITA to you. Combing your photo archives is fine by me, but if you prefer to treat yourself with something and bring back a photo-memento of it for this challenge, by all means feel free to do it :)

I'll keep this open until Wednesday 19th of June, and then choose a winner over a glass of vine. Enjoy life in the meantime!

LO SCOGLIO by Milan Jovanovic /pictogramax, on Flickr

-------------------- The Rules remain the same-----------------------:
1. Either take a picture that matches the nominated theme or select one from your portfolio. You must be the photographer that created the picture in order to enter it.

2. There are several ways to add your photos to the current salon thread: 1. upload your entry to your SC user gallery (all entries must be present in an SC gallery), which you automatically get if you are registered on the SC forum, so if you aren`t registered you will need to if you would like to join the fun. (Don't know about the "gallery" yet? Then read this: SC Gallery FAQ please read it carefully if you are new to using the site's software.) 2. embed from Flickr or another similar web hosting photo site and 3. use the attachment method. All three are explained here:How to post images in forum threads

3. Only one entry per salon, please. If you want to withdraw an entry and replace it with another, that is OK, but you must make it clear in the post containing your replacement picture that this is what you've done. You can add or change the title and add to the edit line to let everyone know.

4. The decision of the curator at the end of the challenge is final - don't give him/her a hard time about it: this is just a friendly photo challenge, after all!

5. The person who submitted the chosen picture will assume the responsibility of curator for the next Salon Challenge and as soon as possible post a message in a new thread in the SC Photo Challenges forum, with details of the new theme. Don't forget - that opening message must include a copy of these instructions, which also double as the rules.

6. The curator can't enter his or her own salon.

7. Please, don´t be shy...Participate and have fun!

8. Each salon should be open for about two weeks.

Meaning
The good life, full of pleasure and indulgence.

Origin
This phrase entered the language following the success of the 1960 film La Dolce Vita. This was written and directed by Federico Fellini and starred Marcello Mastroianni, Anita Ekberg and Anouk Aimée.

La dolce vita translates from the Italian as 'the sweet life' and this was used as one of the advertising taglines for the film. Of course, this phrase would have been commonplace in Italian-speaking countries prior to 1960 but only became part of English at that date.

Brago

After several months of careful gentling, of this coming 4 year old, Paso Fino stallion, with serious trust issues (Extremely untouchable). This was a few moments after the first mounting. Great times. And sweet satisfaction. I believe that Brago, even enjoyed the LAST few moments. There was no wild ride, just getting acquainted. :)

EDIT: OOPS! I forgot the rule of, "take it your self". This was taken by my daughter of me. I will try to find/take a replacement.

"La Dolce Vita" really reminds me of two things: Beautiful blondes being chased around Rome by guys with Rolleiflexes, and something like this:

Dolce Vita - Cajun Style

Cajun boiled shrimp, crab, sausage, corn and taters, dumped in the middle of the table on butcher paper. A little butter in a styrofoam cup for dipping and a couple longnecks to wash it all down. Check out the classy plastic bib.
