I've been shooting the two side by side, hoping one would win out. So far, for me, the RX1 betters the Leica only in autofocus, macro work and price. I read rumblings everywhere of people criticizing the M9 sensor as being long in the tooth and outdated, well damned if it doesn't better the Sony on most shots, I can't find fault, it seems to render exactly as my eye sees things. The Sony on the other hand, is clinically good and a resolution demon, but to my eye, lacks character and depth, clouds appear more 3D with the M9 as opposed to the RX1 sort of flattening everything out.
I would like to know what others have found.

I have chosen, and it is the RX1. Just need to figure out how to get that CCD/M9 look with the Sony, someone mentioned upping the contrast and lowering the saturation to achieve. We'll see...

and turn off vignette correction, voila.. you have a leica.

at least those 3 things is what i did on steve huffs comparison shots to make the rx1 look like the leica file

I have recently sold my M9-P for the RX1. In Lightroom I increase the contrast +10 Saturation +19 & post-crop vignetting -20
I find this gives me that CCD/M9 look. All subjective but it works for me.

One more in addition to the above... In LR, under HSL / Color / BW - Select Color, click on the Yellow square and slide the saturation to -45
Depends on the subject, I was in the rain shooting my Flowering Dogwood and the Sony colors seem have too much yellow, making grass and trees unnatural looking.

I am a professional documentary photographer. I just sold my M9 with the plan to upgrade to the M 240. Despite feeling a little 'cheated' to cough up so much money for another half baked product from Leica I felt that it was time to upgrade. I am however thinking of switching to the RX 1 my only real concern is how fast/slow the manual focus is etc Any help from people that have both or have tried both much appreciated....I could live with most of the RX1s quirks but I need a fast manual focus....thx
