Sony Hello

I just got an RX1 after much deliberation. I had sold my 5D MarkII system looking for a full frame that would actually allow me to focus :), and couldn't decide for a while. Then I said what the heck. It will be small enough that I'll use it more often. So here I am, not disappointed at all.

The most astonishing thing, so far, has been the quality of the B&W images I've gotten with it.

I need to use it for videography somehow. Doesn't matter how difficult, I still need a way to deal with focusing during a video shoot, and I haven't figured this out yet.

To elaborate a bit, manual focus is the way to go for videography, even on an Arri. The RX1 problem is that you can't see well enough to perform the focusing precisely. A suggestion to Sony might be to switch on a magnification square during recording. This is really easy to implement in firmware (just a bitblit) and would completely solve the issue. Some nice touches might be the size and location of the square and its magnification factor.

Congratulations :) I came within a whisker of pressing the buy button today but managed to sit on my hands! That's not to say I won't succumb tomorrow or the next day .......... :daz:

The main thing for me is Image Quality. The rest I can manage. I'm pretty happy with my decision.

Sent an enhancement request to Sony. Will see what happens. This was their reply:
