Ricoh HU - Anyone take advantage of Henry's Camera sale on Ricoh GXR?

ARGHHHHHHHH. why do these always crop up when I have no spare cash. Just dropped a couple in my shopping cart... body, aps zoom, and 50 and 28 mm.

Nice haul.... :D

I have had the a12 m module for around 2 years now. 35 Cron v4 is permanently attached to it. :D I am still thinking about getting a second backup body..the price is just tooo good..

Btw. The Fuji x100 battery is the same as the one used for the gxr.

Over at rff we have talking about this for a week already. I just realized I do not remember seeing a thread over here about it. Anyway gas got me and I bought a a16 24-85 zoom for under 300 Canadian :( :D includes shipping..

I have the body and the 28 and when I saw that excellent 24-85 for $249, I almost just instinctively bought one because its such a great deal. Then I remembered I almost never like shooting with zooms and the things I love about the GXR probably wouldn't translate well to that lens anyway, so I left it. But that's how good a deal it is that I almost bought something I had zero interest in based on what an incredible deal it was.

I own a couple of zooms that cover either most or all of that range on the OMD and they're not as good as the Ricoh, but that's not why they aren't on the camera except for the rare event I couldn't shoot any other way. And, frankly, of my three cameras that could take a zoom lens, the OMD is the one best equipped to deal with them. And I have an LX7 that covers about the same range but in a step zoom so I can actually convince myself I'm shooting with a small bag of primes that are REALLY easy to change. So, no, the Ricoh zoom wouldn't just have been an impulse buy for me, but a stupid impulse buy, so I didn't do it.

But WHAT a deal!

I know how u feel.. I almost put in the cart the 28, 50 and another body... I fought off the gas so far..but I keep on thinking a backup body may not be a bad idea if Ricoh decides to totally abandon the gxr line. This price slash could very well be the first sign of this or it could be a sign of a new gxr line.. Given Ricoh has been so Pentax oriented, it may be the end of the line :(.

Even though I do not use the gxr as much as I used to... Due to DP Merrill and Fuji xp1. Fuji zoom is not start w/ a 24 but I suspect it has better overall iq. I have always like the overall look of the 12mp sensor from the a12 m module versus the 16mp sensor from the nex5n w/ the same rf lens.

I mainly use zooms when I am out w/ my wife or on vacation.. The 24-80ish range has been what I have preferred back when I was using a Nikon dslr. Otherwise , I normally use the a fixed lens in the 35 to 50 range w/ a super wide such as a 21 or 24 on the other camera if I have two bodies.

I didn't get one from there but there was an equivalent offer in the UK I couldn't resist. I sold my canon 16 35 mm lens and got the GXR body and A12 M module for £449 and a second hand Voigtländer 35mm f/1.4 M-Mount NOKTON Classic for £299 to go with it. :D

did anyone take advantage of this sale, and perhaps want to part with their gxr at the same price they paid for it? :p
i missed out on this by about a month. and ive been hunting for a reasonably priced one ever since!
primarily interested in the gxr + 28mm
but also interested in the 50mm and m mount if thats available?
thanks guys :)
