Oops ... still, I like the way he says "well, I should have read the rules properly"

Makes me wonder if the Salon Contest adjudicator should be requesting original raws :D

Maybe I'm having a hard time comprehending the blog, but I'm confused. Is cropping not allowed? If its not, how would anyone know if an image was cropped unless EXIF data was required? It appears he didn't crop, that he digitally removed(brushed out) the bag.

Cropping is not the issue - it was removing the bag. As I understand it, if he had simply cropped he would have been OK. Except of course that the composition would have been different.

Good evening (here in Spain at least). I just logged in to the forum and wanted to thank you all for your comments.
I am the photographer that won and lost :) :-( the National Geographic 2012 photo contest... I have finally learned that I better read carefully the rules next time. It seems that my very personal interpretation of the norms were not shared by the jury...
In any case, should you need any help if you plan a trip to a remote area, do not hesitate to contact me. I will gladly share with you my experiences.
Regards, and thank you again for dropping by my Nomad Photo Expedition Blog.
